A joint collaboration with CPPP program at OBI, Civic Power Mapping project was envisioned to use maps to inform civic engagement strategies. Five counties were identified - Alameda, Contra Costa, Santa Clara, San Francisco and San Mateo. We identified a set of indicators in consultation with our clients, and identified tracts that were above county average on a number of indicators. All these indicators were maps. Also mapped were voting patterns on a select set of ballot initiatives. The final set of tracts were the ones where Bay Area Rising would target their efforts to improve civic engagement.
