Economic inequality is one of the most pressing threats to the wellbeing of our nation today, and is a foundational barrier to equity and belonging especially for historically marginalized groups.
While economic justice underpins many of our research projects, particularly around housing policy and public finance, much of our work around inequality happens in the Economic Disparities research cluster, composed of 17 UC Berkeley faculty scholars from a diverse array of disciplines. In particular, this cluster focuses on the evolution of economic consequences like inequality on populations that have been historically disadvantaged, as well as the economic consequences of intersecting issues of socioeconomic status, race, ethnicity and other factors.
