In order to move forward, we need to understand our past. This powerpoint covers histories of racial exclusion and dispossession in Bay Area housing. It is based on the Othering & Belonging Institute's publication, Roots, Race & Place, and explicates tactics of racialized housing that shaped the Bay Area's housing geographies that we know today. This powerpoint was used as a teaching tool for the summer teacher fellowship on race and housing, but can be adapted to various settings including a high school history class or a community-based organization.
