On June 19, 2019, Director john a. powell participated on a panel discussion in Berlin, Germany hosted by the Open Society Foundation on defining the populist movement and the need for narrative change. Fellow panelists included Timea Junghaus, executive director for the European Roma Initiative for Arts and Culture, and Heather Grabbe, director of the Open Society European Policy Institute. Director powell spoke on xenophobic and authoritarian trends in Europe and the need for deep belonging and mutuality to combat these forces and work toward a just society of beloved community.
