On March 2, 2019, Director john powell gave a keynote at the "ALL IN for Equity" conference in Monterey County. The event was hosted by the Monterey County Office of Education in collaboration with other local agencies. The conference brought together K-12 educators, education leaders, post-secondary educators, and community leaders. Professor powell discussed his targeted universalism and othering and belonging frameworks to help inform Monterey County's equity-based interventions. He emphasized the consequences that we as a society face when we do not address inequities in our systems, and his keynote served as a call to action about our collective responsibility to build an equitable society.
