Nthando Thandiwe is a Research Analyst for the Othering and Belonging Institute. He works with the Community Power and Policy Partnerships and Equity Metrics teams.
As a former researcher at the Keystone Research Center (KRC) in Pennsylvania, he developed his passion for collaborating with community-based organizations and government entities. With KRC, he led the creation of the local Pittsburgh branch and demonstrated how progressive forms of revenue generation could provide sustainable revenue and create a more inclusive city.
Before joining OBI, he worked in local government with the Allegheny County Department of Human Services, where he provided recommendations on how to efficiently deliver public services and pursue opportunities to leverage funding sources. Through this work, he was able to further policies that promote economic stability, affordable housing, and public participation in government.
He is a native of Atlanta, Georgia, who holds a Master of Public Policy and Management from Carnegie Mellon University and a B.S in Architectural Design from Stanford University. He enjoys spending time in nature, cycling, running, and gardening.
