The Martin Luther King, Jr. event serves as an extension of the longtime work of the Thurston Group of Washington State, which is dedicated to providing educational and leadership opportunities for underrepresented youth with a focus on historically black colleges and universities.

This year’s event will include an opening recognition honoring Dr. King, naming of the 2021 event scholarship recipients, and a discussion around equity and inclusion work being done to support students at SPSCC. Professor powell will then share a message with time for Q&A before the event concludes. The community is invited to join in this free virtual event.
