ANCHOR RICHMOND REPORT RELEASE SET FOR OCT. 30

NEW REPORT SHOWS OPPORTUNITIES FOR JOBS, HOUSING, EDUCATION WITH NEW BERKELEY GLOBAL CAMPUS AT RICHMOND BAY

RICHMOND – A new report from researchers at the Haas Institute for a Fair and Inclusive Society in partnership with community advocates highlights the impacts and opportunities with the development of the Berkeley Global Campus at Richmond Bay. The report, Anchor Richmond: Community Opportunities & Anchor Strategies for the Berkeley Global Campus at Richmond Bay, recommends policies and practices in the areas of workforce and employment development, business and community wealth, housing, youth and education, environmental health, and community-engaged planning.

“The new campus in Richmond represents more than a development project,” john a. powell, Director of the Haas Institute for a Fair and Inclusive Society at UC Berkeley said. “It represents an opportunity to create a new platform for collaborative and sustainable engagement that is built in deep partnership with the community.” The Haas Institute authored the report in partnership with the Alliance of Californians for Community Empowerment (ACCE), the Contra Costa Interfaith Supporting Community Organization (CCISCO), and the Safe Return Project.
