This event is targeted to present updates from the Cities4All Global campaign, specifically on the topics of capacity building and research.
World Enabled, UCLG and UN HABITAT collaborated with other partners (Doha Debates, Institute of Othering and Belonging) in building the first edition of the “Building Cities for All” Training Programme. The programme intends to promote capacity building for local practitioners and city leaders by fostering peer-to-peer learning through learning tools, including theoretical and practical materials, storytelling and showcasing of case studies. The 2021 Edition of the Learning Modules, titled “Introduction to Inclusive and Accessible Cities'', has a thematic focus on promoting disability and intersectional justice. To this aim, the first three learning modules will shine a spotlight on people with disabilities living at intersectional junctures of oppression, collecting their lived experiences to make them visible and enhance their leadership. The remaining modules will showcase insights from local governments to provide local practitioners with actionable responses to address the socio-economic barriers that affect equitable participation of PWDs.
The event also will present a sneak peek to the publication “Access for All: Transportation and Persons with Disabilities” in partnership with ITDP. We will present the executive summary of the publication, plus discuss the ongoing partnership, journey towards developing this milestone research, and next steps.
