On October 22, 2019, Professor powell gave the 2019 Charles Causier Memorial Lecture at the University of Wisconsin-Madison's School of Architecture and Urban Planning. Professor powell's keynote focused on racial equity and economic justice in urban planning. In particular, Professor powell discussed how the City of Milwaukee can use Belonging and Equity by Design to counteract decades of oppression and create a more equitable city for all of its residents.
