On July 19, 2019, Professor john powell gave a keynote address at the Institute of Noetic Sciences' (IONS) 18th International Conference, entitled “The Possibility Accelerator: Creating Our Future, Now” in Santa Clara, CA. IONS has been bringing scientific exploration to understanding consciousness and human potential, and their bi-annual conference has been designed to bring together thought leaders in science, spirituality, and transformation. Professor powell’s keynote address discussed the growing fear of the other, fear, of each other, fear of technology and fear of the future that has gripped humanity in the twenty-first century—a set of problems that requires healthy relationship between science and spirituality, including the experience of interconnection and meaning. In his breakout session, Professor powell discussed how such a spiritual practice must be reflected in our stories, practices, and structures.
