Bani Singh is an undergraduate student at UC Berkeley, pursuing a dual degree in Political Economy and Legal Studies. She is also the new Undergraduate Student Research Assistant at the Othering & Belonging Institute.
Bani has a strong background in policy research, writing, and civic engagement. She previously worked as a columnist for the Business Review at Berkeley, where she wrote various articles about the financial challenges faced by local nonprofits and examined the economic implications of artificial intelligence on U.S. labor markets. She will now be leading the Economics/Investing column as a Senior Columnist, mentoring new writers as they develop their skills. In addition to her writing, Bani served in the ASUC Office of the President, where she promoted diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives across campus. She also worked as a Project Intern at Sacramento City Hall, focusing on housing and homelessness prevention initiatives. In this role, she presented her research directly to the mayor and city council to help address the city’s challenges.
Bani's experiences have inspired her to pursue a career in the public sector. Her research interests focus on the intersection of legal frameworks and economic policy, particularly themes such as access to higher education, economic inequality, and homelessness prevention.
