The historic Henry J. Kaiser Auditorium first opened to the public in 1915 and operated for 90 years until the City of Oakland closed it down in 2005. With landmark status, much of the building’s key features have been restored and maintained. O&B24 will be the inaugural conference at the center after a lengthy renovation. We are thrilled to bring back our first in-person, US-based conference in 5 years to this historic venue where both Dr. Martin Luther King and Maya Angelou spoke.
The O&B Conference will feature an expansive indoor-outdoor campus that weaves in between the HJK Center and its neighbor, the Oakland Museum of California (OMCA). This classic Oakland institution, and a proud partner of our 2024 conference, will be a place for conference-goers to enjoy OMCA’s extensive outdoor gardens and fantastic exhibits and galleries.

Transit Options for the Conference
Please see here for transport options for getting to the conference venue. Onsite parking at the HJK Center will not be available to attendees. If you plan to drive to the conference, there are a number of paid public parking garages nearby. You can find a map of these garages at the bottom of this page.
Driving directions from Oakland International Airport (OAK). Exit airport. Take Hegenberger Rd to I-880 N. Exit Oak Street and turn right, then turn right again onto 7th and left onto Fallon. Go 3 blocks, turn right onto 10th. Turn left into the convention center parking lot.
BART from OAK. Ride the Beige line for one stop from OAK Airport BART Station to Coliseum. Take the Orange, Green, or Blue line to Lake Merritt.
From San Francisco International Airport (SFO). Convention center direction: 25 miles NE. Take 101 North. Merge to I-80. Take 580 East off the bridge and exit to Downtown Oakland. Take I-980 W and exit to Jackson. Turn right onto 7th. Go 3 blocks, turn right onto Fallon. Go 3 blocks, turn right onto 10th. Turn left into convention center parking lot.
BART Directions from SFO. Ride the Red line from SFO to Balboa Park Station or the Yellow line to Glen Park. Take the Green line to Lake Merritt.
