Julie Yick

About
Julie Yick Wong Koppel, Ed.D. is an Ethnic Studies teacher and educational leader in the Mountain View Los Altos (MVLA) School District. She has served as the Ethnic Studies District Lead for the MVLA School District and she has an extensive background in curriculum design, multicultural education, and teaching for social justice. Julie earned her Doctorate in Educational Leadership from San Francisco State University and completed doctoral research on high school Ethnic Studies teaching and implementation. Her dissertation is entitled Ethnic Studies and Creating Transformative Change in California Schools.

Bridging Through High School Ethnic Studies
The UC Berkeley High School Ethnic Studies Initiative (HSESI) is a collaboration between the American Cultures Center, Department of Ethnic Studies, and History-Social Science Project intended to develop curriculum materials to support Bay Area teachers and school districts meeting the 2025-26 school-year rollout of the California Ethnic Studies high school graduation requirement.
