Josephine Ironshield Lakota
Josephine Ironshield Lakota is from the Oglala Sioux Tribe located in the Standing Rock reservation in North Dakota.
Josephine is a co-founder and acting Board Member of Native American Coalition of Quad Cities. Josephine is also the co-founder of Sage Sisters of Solidarity, which is a grassroots organization created in the Quad Cities in Iowa and Illinois. Josephine and her family have been personally impacted by the Dakota Access Pipeline (DAPL). The Sage Sisters work was inspired by this personal connection to DAPL and by water protectors in their resistance against the Dakota Access Pipeline. Working with Bold Iowa and Water-keepers of the Quad Cities, Sage Sisters have promoted renewable energy sources and for cultural, environmental and social justice.
