Yomar Aguilar is an undergraduate student research assistant at the Institute. He is currently majoring in Political Science at UC Berkeley with plans to then go to law school. Yomar is also a member of the ASUC Legal Clinic on campus, which provides free legal and tax services to the Berkeley community. Yomar grew up in the Imperial Valley, a small border town in southern California. Back at home, Yomar helped co-found a youth voting rights initiative named Valle Vota and founded a youth unhoused advocacy organization named Familia del Valle with hopes of alleviating the inequity that plagues the Valley. On his free time, Yomar enjoys playing chess and watching baseball; you can probably find him on Moffitt 4th floor procrastinating.
