Since 2010, over 230 anti-Muslim bills have been introduced or enacted in statehouses across the country. |
Our updated interactive map released today identifies all anti-Muslim legislation introduced in the US at the state level, as well as provides insight into the divisiveness of the bills, and the role state lawmakers have in institutionalizing Islamophobia. The map allows users to click on any state in the country and see the list of bills (if any) that were introduced and/or passed, with links to read them on the websites of the different US statehouses.
The page will soon include more information on the anti-Muslim bills' sponsors, visual breakdowns of our data findings, and a list of federal measures that disproportionately discriminate against Muslims. See it all here!

Community Land Trusts as Stewards of Public Land: A Guide for Local Govts in California
California’s affordability crisis has reached every corner of the state, and local governments are examining their assets to find ways to support the preservation and development of affordable housing. This resource guide — written in collaboration with the California Community Land Trust Network — documents how local governments can partner with Community Land Trusts to achieve their goals, and provides case studies on government–CLT collaborations that turned public resources into a variety of sustained benefits for community members most in need. Event: Identity and Activism in Diverse Democracies
Is democracy important, at least as an ideal, to realize belonging? Can we have stable, diverse democracies? And should ascribed identities (such as race, religion, or gender) be central in political solidarity efforts, or should they become less salient? What kind of coalitions can and should we build? Our weekly belonging sessions are back!
We're happy to announce that Belonging: a Weekly Practice is resuming its programming starting on Monday, October 3rd at 12pm PT. Join us each Monday at that time for a practice space facilitated by Sarah Crowell, Evan Bissell, and Ashley Gallegos. In this 60 minute drop-in we'll mix reflection, movement and critical inquiry to stretch our own understandings and applications of belonging. This is a space for discussion, co-creation and growth. Symposium reflects on the 40-year legacy of ruling to support students with disabilities
The 1982 landmark decision of the Supreme Court in Board of Education v. Rowley set a standard for the support public schools must provide to students with disabilities, but the legacy is complex. On October 28, join academics, K-12 educators, lawyers, advocates, and activists for a day-long symposium where they will assess the impact of the decision and explore its current meaning in light of more recent rulings that attempt to define the benefit the law promises.
