See the launch of our teaching curricula for racial equity & housing justice
Last week, on April 21, we organized this online event to launch more than two dozen curricula and resources on teaching for racial equity and housing justice, designed in collaboration with Bay Area teachers. Coming out of a two year-long project in collaboration with Bay Area teachers, these materials are designed to make more accessible the Bay Area's histories of racial dispossession in housing as well as its histories of resistance and housing justice organizing. You can find these resources here.
Join us tomorrow, April 28 at 12pm PT / 3pm ET to kick off a monthly workshop series to learn from organizers, artists and researchers who are putting visionary frameworks for change into action. Our first workshop looks at energy independence for self-determination using the example of Casa Pueblo in Puerto Rico. In this workshop, Executive Director of Casa Pueblo de Adjuntas, Arturo Massol, will share the concrete ways that Casa Pueblo uses culture, science and research to support a deeply participatory process and self-determination. At this event, which will include OBI Director john a. powell, writers from both series will address the question: What must be done? Click for more info.
Join us for this in person conversation happening next Friday, May 6 at 4pm inside UC Berkeley's Sutardja Dai Hall between OBI Director john a. powell and Marshall Ganz from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government. We hope to see you there!
