Stories of Migration. Jimmy López's Dreamers evokes the realities of migration: the meaning of "home," the need and human impulse to migrate, the right to move, and the right to stay. Elsadig Elsheikh, director of the Global Justice Program at the Haas Institute for a Fair and Inclusive Society, moderates a round table discussion with artists who also have personal migration stories: multi-instrumentalist Vân-Ánh Võ; Torange Yeghiazarian, founding director of Golden Thread Productions; and spoken word artist/activist Kemi Bello; with commentary on the current politics of the US southern border by Beatriz Manz of the Center for Latin American Studies. Presented in partnership with the Haas Institute in association with the UC Berkeley Undocumented Student Center, the Center for Latin American Studies, and the office of Oscar Dubon, Vice Chancellor for Equity and Inclusion.
