We are excited to share that the Othering & Belonging Institute is co-hosting the 2026 International School on Climate Mobilities (ISCM) in partnership with the Beyond Climate Collaborative.

Across the world, climate change is reshaping the conditions of everyday life, raising urgent questions about who is forced to move, who can stay, and who is supported in return and recovery. These realities are often discussed through the language of “migration” or “displacement,” but at their core they are also questions of belonging: who is protected, who is made vulnerable, whose ties to place are recognized, and whose options are constrained by policy, power, and inequality.

At OBI, we understand climate (im)mobilities not only as a set of environmental impacts, but as a structural and political terrain—one that reveals the boundaries of inclusion, rights, and membership.

This partnership with the Beyond Climate Collaborative is especially meaningful because it creates a shared space for justice-centered learning and relationship-building across disciplines, geographies, professions, and lived experiences. At a moment when climate impacts are accelerating and narratives about mobility are often flattened or securitized, we see the ISCM as an opportunity to deepen analysis, expand solidarities, and strengthen the work of building a more just and belonging-centered future.

OBI will continue to share ongoing events and seminars connected to this partnership. More info on ISCM and their work can be found here.
