Nilo Amiri is the Administrative Assistant at the Institute, and supports our teams with office administration, event planning, and social media. She also communicates and supports vendor & contractor procurements.
Nilo's professional background lies mainly in Event Management, with over 12 years of experience. Her focus has been on live music shows, community organizing and Hip Hop & Arts events. Prior to coming to the Institute, she was the Production Manager at Impact Hub Oakland, where she worked with all clients in coordinating their event logistics, and assisting in the development of the events department.
Additionally, she led event initiatives on womxn empowernment (with a focus on womxn of color), such as the Womxn of Impact series, and a networking event for womxn in Hip Hop. Outside of her work at the Institute, she is a performing artist and competitive dancer in the style of Popping, and also works to advance Hip Hop culture as a vehicle for social change through her new lifestyle brand, Boom Bap Ave.
