Jackie Mendelson (she/her/they/them) is a second year master’s student in the UC Berkeley School of Public Health. After pursuing their B.S. in Plant Sciences with a minor in Government & Public Policy from University of Arizona, they completed a year of FoodCorps service in Tucson Unified Schools and went on to become the Programs Manager of a farmers market non-profit. Since beginning her masters program, Jackie has supported research projects with the Nutrition Policy Institute as well as completed her summer internship evaluating a youth empowerment & public health literacy program. She is currently working with the Berkeley Unified garden & cooking program to advance equity in their garden-based learning curriculum. Jackie is thrilled to be researching with the equitable transportation project at OBI as she is passionate about utilizing policy, advocacy, and capacity, resilience, & community building to dismantle systemic inequities in the food system and beyond.
