Danièle Fogel is a third year doctoral student in the Graduate School of Education’s critical studies of race, class, and gender cluster. She studies the politics of high school global travel programs and teaches an undergraduate education course on sociocultural approaches to literacy. Danièle is interested in the intersection between theory and practice and in engaging in research that can be leveraged to affect social change. With the Othering & Belonging Institute, she is working on developing a summer teacher institute around the topic of racial dispossession and housing. Before coming to U.C. Berkeley, Danièle taught high school English for eight years, and was an instructional coach for teachers. She taught in France, Cameroon, New York, and Oakland. She holds a Masters in Teaching from NYU and a Bachelor of Arts from Oberlin College. Danièle was born and raised in the Bay Area.
