UBLONG, A Radical Rewriting for Unconditional Belonging: Disrupting Narratives on How We Belong

You belong–as your whole self, without conditions, and no strings attached. You don’t have to “earn belonging” by keeping your head down or holding back parts of your identity and experiences within dominant narrative boxes. You don’t have to “prove yourself” by sacrificing your life to “the economy.” Those are demands of an othering economy; it extracts, reduces, and dehumanizes us–shaping how we’re seen and the conditions on where we are welcome. But we are more. Our efforts to realize belonging without othering should reflect these ideals–UBLONG is a grassroots effort to bring unconditional belonging narratives to our social change efforts directly challenging the narrow and fascist view of belonging that’s on the rise.

The Unconditional Belonging Strategic Narrative expands not only who belongs, but how we belong. Explore what the Unconditional Belonging narrative frame is, understand how it’s different from conventional narratives that shape our movements, and generate ideas about how you can apply it in your power building and transformational efforts.
