Healing From Harm Through Blackout Poetry

Project 21:12 connects, visibilizes, and organizes Exvangelicals (i.e. former evangelical Christians) to disrupt and dismantle Christian nationalism. One of the more resonant activities we've led in communities across the country is blackout poetry, using harmful evangelical books as our starting point. Whether you grew up as an evangelical/fundamentalist Christian and have left, or are a human living your life in the U.S. under the shadow of Christian nationalist culture, religious harm is real — but it doesn't have to have the last word! Join this "maker" session to experience blackout poetry as a way to transform harmful texts into messages of liberation.
